Netnice is a network control primitive on end-hosts, which provides great freedom in traffic control and system protection, through hierarchical virtualization of network interfaces.
The hierarchical virtual
network interface (VIF) has
integrated network QoS and security control into a single framework, and realizes a variety of controls that has not been possible.
On May 25, 2004, Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA), decided to give one-year financial support for the Project, to port the mechanism onto other platform and to develop various applications.
